All About the Beautiful Cherry Blossoms of Japan

One of the most celebrated flowers in the whole world is cherry blossoms, or more commonly termed as sakura. When it is spring time in Japan, people only look forward to one thing: the cherry blossoms. In fact, the cherry blossoms of Japan are so well-known that almost everyone from around the world knows about it.

The sakura “front” sweeps along the length of entire Japan during the spring of each year. It normally starts in Okinawa in the far south during February and and then goes along the path all the way to Hokkaido in the north during May. However, there are factors that can affect the blooming of cherry blossoms. For example, if the winter season is extremely cold, the cherry blossoms would come out later than expected. Milder weather would make them bloom earlier. Also, when there is a heavy rain, the petals of cherry blossom trees can fall quickly as they are very sensitive. This is why weather forecasters in Japan have a very important job of updating with the weather throughout the cherry blossom season!

If you happen to be in Japan and is lucky enough to perfectly be there during the sakuraseason, you must never miss out going to parks and gardens. It is a tradition in japan to have a hanami during this season. A hanami is the Japanese tradition of “flower-viewing”. It is basically just hanging out at the parks or gardens and seeing the various flowers that bloom beautifully. You can bring a selection of picnic food and drinks to make the experience more worthwhile. You’ll get to experience a much more peaceful and relaxed Japan as the people are usually at their most relaxed state and almost all public places emit a party-like atmosphere.
